Privacy Policy
The short version
We collect only the information we need to provide our software, run our business, and (with your consent) send you marketing. We don’t sell your personal information. You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. This policy explains the details and how to reach our Privacy Officer.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Big Bang Retail Solutions (“BIGBANG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information. We are a sole proprietorship based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, and we handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) where applicable.
2. Scope
This policy applies to personal information we collect through our website (bigbangpos.com), our software and add-on apps, and our sales and support activities. When we provide software to a business customer, that customer may submit information about their own customers to our Software; in that case we act as a service provider and process that information on the customer’s behalf under our End-User License Agreement.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact and account information — name, business name, email address, phone number, and login credentials.
- Transaction and billing information — subscription details and payment records. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Support information — messages, requests, and other information you provide when you contact us.
- Usage and technical information — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and similar log data collected automatically when you use our website or Software.
- Customer Data processed through the Software — for example, information our business customers sync between their point-of-sale and email marketing platforms via MailHUB.
4. How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- provide, maintain, and support our Software and services;
- create and manage accounts, licences, and subscriptions;
- process payments and keep business records;
- respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- improve and secure our products and website;
- send service and administrative messages; and
- with your consent, send marketing and promotional communications.
We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, and we obtain consent where required by law.
5. Consent and marketing (CASL)
We rely on your consent (express or implied, as permitted by law) to collect and use your personal information. Where we send commercial electronic messages, we do so in accordance with CASL: we identify ourselves, include accurate sender information, and provide an unsubscribe mechanism in every marketing email. You can withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide some services.
6. Disclosure of personal information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as hosting, payment processing, analytics, and email delivery), under contractual obligations to protect the information and use it only as instructed;
- Third-party platforms you connect to our Software (such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or RMH), to provide the integration you have requested;
- Legal and safety recipients where disclosure is required or permitted by law, or to protect our rights, property, or safety; and
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
7. Storage, transfer, and security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our website is hosted on a server located in South Korea, so personal information you submit through the website (for example, through forms or when you log in) is processed there. Our other business records are kept in Canada. Where information is processed in another country, it may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that jurisdiction under its laws. We take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard comparable to that required in Canada.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, to provide our services, and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- withdraw consent to certain uses, including marketing; and
- ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your information.
To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Cookies and analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can usually control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect site functionality. If we add third-party analytics in the future, we will update this policy to identify them.
11. Children’s privacy
Our products and website are intended for businesses and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, provide additional notice. Your continued use of our website and Software after changes take effect indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
